Good afternoon, I wanted to reach out after some time to inform you that the project has finally gotten some footing. One of the first steps with any construction project is the E&SC or SWPPP work. Is there a time next week were we might chat a few minutes and discuss first steps. During our last call, I mentioned collecting soil samples along the proposed roadway roughly every 200 ft, however based on the additional assessment by ECA, much of that work has been completed. I see a few issues that may need to be addresses: 1. The ECS analysis included VOCs and SVOCs, metals was not included. However, if you are not importing fill, we can proceed without metals. This would give us background/existing levels on the future roadway. 2. Sample depth, can you all overlay the road placement with soil sample locations and provide a cut depth in that area. Current Brownfields Projects, require an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) to cover all aspects of working on brownfields property. It is listed as a Land Use Restriction. It is not mandated on this project but recommended. We have discussed all the issue via email, but this is a good one stop document and gives approval from DWM. Take a look at the attached template document and see what you think. Call if you have questions or comments. Thanks. I will need time to review the project and get reacquainted with assessment that has been done to date. Per your email below, you will need to import and move soil around on the brownfields property. Do you anticipate exporting soil off the brownfields property? I am available Thursday or Friday (27/28) from 8:30-3 pm. Let’s schedule a conference call during this window. Thank you. The purpose of this email is to request a little of your time to discuss potential brownfields related issues at the site including soil management, acquisition, Phase II, potential dewater etc. If there is a time we can speak on these topics that would be much appreciated. As we narrow our preferred corridors (down to two potential alignments presently) we want to determine any potential cut/fill or dewatering issues that could arise during construction for further costing considerations. The area of interest would probably be the northern property edge at this time. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated for our efforts. Thanks so much and in advance. Part of project appears to potentially be located on a property at 8900 Research Drive in Charlotte, Mecklenberg County. I have attached the Notice of Brownfields Property document that was provided to us. It appears that the COCs impacting groundwater about acceptable regulatory levels are TCE and chloroform.
