The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. The facility if permitted as a Small Type 1 Yard Waste facility. Such facilities are restricted to an area of less than
two (2) acres and may receive only yard and garden waste, silvicultural waste, untreated and unpainted wood waste
or any combination thereof.
2. Small Type 1 facilities shall process or store less than 6,000 cubic yards of material per quarter.
3. Proper signage was posted at the entrance to the facility.
4. A locked cable was located at the entrance to prevent unauthorized access.
5. The access road was of all-weather construction and well maintained.
6. The facility is not open to the public for disposal of yard trash and is only used by the City of Gastonia.
7. Yard waste material is staged and processed on a concrete pad.
8. Material is ground once a year and utilized by city departments for beautification.
9. During the inspection yard debris was pushed up to the back of the concrete pad not allowing firefighter equipment
access to the back side of the debris. This was discussed with Mr. Hendrickson onsite and he will get with his
operator to move the debris allowing access around the backside of the debris.
10. A cut tire was observed during the inspection which was pointed out to Mr. Hendrickson and removed from the
debris.
11. No ponding was observed on-site.
12. No objectionable odors were observed on-site.
13. The site is in compliance with all buffer requirements.
14. The facility does not compost so no temperature records are kept.
15. The working area of the site is less than 2 acres.
