Compliance Inspection Report
S & B Maintenance LLC
SLAS-10-21
Brunswick County
Dear Mrs. Cook:
On July 16, 2018, Mr. John Farnell, representing the State of North Carolina, Division of Waste
Management Solid Waste Section, performed a routine audit inspection of SLAS-10-21 for
compliance with North Carolina solid waste statutes and rules. The following violation(s) were
noted:
A. 15A NCAC 13B .0838(a)(18) states “Approved nutrient management plans shall be
followed.”
Inspection of the septage land application field showed Bermuda grass in the Field had
fallen below 80% coverage as stated in the Nutrient Management Plan.
The above violation may have or can compromise the facility’s ability to ensure protection of the
public health and the environment and thus require remedial action on behalf of the facility in
order to maintain compliance with 15A NCAC 13B .0838(a)(18). In order to resolve these issues,
S & B Maintenance LLC must take the following actions within the next 30 days:
1. Submit a written plan with timelines of which method from the Nutrient
Management Plan will be used to re-establish appropriate land application crop
2. Re-establish entire land application site with appropriate crop
3. Follow the Nutrient Management Plan of harvesting established crops
