The Alternate Source Demonstration Redevelopment and Sampling Work Plan was submitted in response to elevated reported metal detections in monitoring wells at the site, and to determine if the metal detections are naturally occurring. Wake County is requesting approval of a monitoring schedule until Fiscal Year 2020 to redevelop monitoring wells, sample the background monitoring wells to establish background concentrations, and to collect filtered samples for dissolved metals analyses. Wake County is proposing the following: quarterly monitoring well redevelopment and sampling events for the background monitoring wells MW-11 and MW-11D; monitoring well redevelopment during the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semiannual sampling events; and collection of filtered samples for dissolved metals analyses in monitoring wells where the turbidity is greater than 10 NTUs. Based upon the information provided within the Alternate Source Demonstration Redevelopment and Sampling Work Plan, the Section approves the time extension and additional activities as described for the North Wake Closed Unlined MSW Landfill.
