Re: Extension Request Landfill Gas Exceedances Madison County Closed Landfill Permit No. 58-02
Dear Ms. Drummond,
Madison County received an inspection report from Mr. Kris Riddle with the Solid Waste Section
(SWS) on January 26, 2018. This inspection report contained a notice of violation for past and current
exceedances of landfill gas thresholds in two of the gas probes located at the Madison County
Closed Landfill. The inspection report requires Madison County to submit an updated Landfill Gas
Monitoring Plan to the SWS within 60 days of receipt of the inspection report, which would make the
due date March 27, 2018. On behalf of Madison County, Anchor QEA of North Carolina, PLLC
(Anchor QEA), is requesting a 60-day extension to make the new due date May 25, 2018. Madison
County is requesting this extension due to the need to determine how to fund the updated Landfill
Gas Monitoring Plan and associated improvements at the Closed Landfill.
