Dear Ms. Jenkins:
Please reference your application of August 4,2009 for a Department of the Army permit to
authorize work you propose to undertake within Contentnea Creek, at the existing North Carolina
Wildlife Resources Commission's public boating access area, located off of Water Street, in
Grifton, Pitt County, North Carolina.
Upon the recommendation of the Chief of Engineers and under the provisions of Section 10 of
the Act of Congress approved March 3, 1899 (33 U.S.c. 403), entitled "An act making
appropriations for the construction, repair and preservation of certain public works on rivers and
harbors and for other purposes", you are hereby authorized by the Secretary of the Army to add
an additional 20-foot long by 8-foot wide section of dock to the existing dock as well as excavate
approximately 14.26 cubic yards of accumulated sediment under the existing dock.
It is understood that this instrument does not convey any property rights either in real estate or
material, or any exclusive privileges; and that it does not authorize any injury to private property,
or invasion of property rights, or any infringement of Federal, State or local assent required by
law for the authorized activity.
It is further understood that if this work is not completed on or before December 31,2010,
this permit, if not previously revoked or specifically extended, shall cease and become null and
void.
There are enclosed plans, general and special conditions and notice of authorization (ENG
Form 4336). The notice of authorization must be conspicuously displayed at the work site. You
must notifY us when the work is commenced and completed.
