A total of 121 short form surveys were mailed out and of those, 25 have been determined to be no longer in business. A total of 96 surveys including one long form were returned and or conducted by telephone. The North Carolina Manufacturers Register, City utility billing data, City of Monroe Economic Development existing industry listing were used to identify potential SIU's. There were 20 site visits to verify closed facilities and 6 facilities inspected during the survey. Through the efforts of the IWS,no facilities were identified to be permitted as new SIU's. A summary table of the IWS is included in this packet. Currently the City of Monroe permits 14 SIU's and 3 LIU's. In addition to conducting the system wide IWS,the City is implementing an ongoing"screening" for potential SIU's. This screening is done through the Water Resources Department. Industrial Users applying for water service are sent an IWS short form. This form must be completed and returned before necessary building permits and/or water service is provided.
