1. STORMWATER DRAINAGE EASEMENT NOTE:
"CENTERLINE OF XX FOOT WIDE PUBLIC STORM WATER DRAINAGE EASEMENT. OWNERSHIP OF AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF STORM WATER FACILITIES IN THIS EASEMENT REMAINS WITH THE CURRENT OWNER. IF THE PROPERTY IS WITHIN OR BECOMES A PART OF THE CITY,
THE EASEMENT AND ACCESS POINTS TO THE EASEMENT ARE SUBJECT TO THE TERMS AND RESTRICTIONS STATED IN THE "REVISED DECLARATION OF RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF THE CITY OF DURHAM IN STORM WATER MANAGEMENT FACILITY EASEMENTS" RECORDED IN REAL ESTATE BOOK XXX, PAGE XXX,

PUBLIC WORKS CONDITION OF APPROVAL:
1. THE DESIGNING PROFESSIONAL (A NCPE, NCPLS OR NCRLA - AS REQUIRED) SHALL SUBMIT THREE (3) SETS OF CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS TO THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT - DEVELOPMENT REVIEW FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL. CONSTRUCTION DRAWING APPROVAL IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO

Survey Notes /Project Datum Notes
1. Topographic survey dated 7/12/2018 by Calyx, NC License # F-1333
2. The basis of bearings for this survey is NAD 83 (2011) SPCS.
3. All elevations are based on NAVD88 in feet.
4. R/W lines and boundary lines shown as broken do not depict an actual
boundary survey.
5. No portion of the subject property is in a special flood hazard area per FEMA
map number 372000739J, effective May 2, 2006.
6. Zoning for the entire subject property resides in the "R-20" taken from
Durham County GIS - GOMAPS 4.0
Transportation Notes
O 1. The location of the sidewalks shown on this plan is schematic. A City of
Durham and/or NCDOT encroachment permit is required prior to any
construction. After obtaining the required permits, please contact the City of
Durham Engineering Construction Inspection office at 919-560-4326 for a
preconstruction conference and field visit prior to any work on the proposed
sidewalk.

2. The grade lines shown denote the finished elevation of the proposed
surfacing at grade points shown on the typical sections. Grade lines may be
adjusted at the their beginning and ending and at structures and existing
pavement as directed by the engineer in order to secure a proper tie-in.
3. The superelevation is to be revolved about the grade points shown on the
typical sections.
Utility Notes
1. Any relocation of existing utilities will be accomplished by others, excpet as
shown on the plans.
2. Utility locations are based upon field surveys and utilty records. All utilities
shall be field located by the Contractor prior to construction activity.
3. The Contractor shall coordinate the adjustment of manholes, valves, and meters
with utility owners.
4. The Contractor shall schedule sewer outages with the City at least 7 days prior
to shutting off service.
5. All water and sanitary sewer construction shall be per City of Durham Standard
Specifications:

Demolition Notes:
1. General contractor to dispose of all materials off site.
2. General contractor shall coordinate storage location for salvaged materials with
the owner's representative.
3. All materials, furnishings, utilities, and pavement that are not scheduled to be
demolished and are damaged by the contractor as a result of the demolition or
construction operations shall be repaired by the contractor at no additional cost to
the owner.
4. Contractor is responsible for verifying all utilities prior to beginning demolition
operations. Notify "North carolina one call" (telephone 1-800-632-4949) at least
48 hours prior to start of demolition to have existing utilities located. Contractor
shall contact any local utilities that provide their own locator services independent
of "North carolina one call."
5. Contractor shall place a safety barricade fence where required to prevent
unauthorized entry to the construction site.
7. Contractor shall provide pedestrian ingress /egress to all existing buildings,
parking lots, and paths of pedestrian travel throughout the construction period.
Grading notes:
1. All proposed elevations shown are edge of pavement elevations unless
otherwise specified.
2. Interim grading shall be provided that ensures the protection of structures,
utilities, sidewalks, pavements, and other facilities from damage caused by
settlement, lateral movement, undermining, and washout.
4. Contractor shall report any grade discrepancies to the owner's representative
prior to beginning construction operations.
5. Contractor shall adjust rim elevations of existing manholes, meters, valves, etc.
As required to meet new finished grades.
7. Contractor shall slope grades to assure positive stormwater flow to keep water
from pooling along curb.
Site notes:
1. The contractor shall verify all dimensions and coordinates and report any
discrepancies to the owner's representative prior to any construction.
2. All dimensions and coordinates are given in decimal feet.
3. The contractor shall ascertain the location of all underground utilities prior to
excavation.
4. All written dimensions shall prevail. Do not scale from drawings.
5. All sidewalks shall be laid out along the centerline of each walk.
6. Curbs are dimensioned to back of curb unless otherwise noted.
7. All angles 90 degrees unless otherwise noted.
8. Align all joints, corners and edges as shown.
9. All curb tapers are six (6') feet long unless otherwise shown on plan.
10. Where new sidewalk adjoins existing walk, provide expansion joint by drilling
into the face of the existing walk for placement of dowels. Tie new sidewalks into
nearest existing pavement joint.
11. Sawcut existing asphalt and milling limits as shown.
12. All ramps to meet public rights -of -way accessibility guidelines.
13. All ramps shall be installed with detectable warning domes per public
rights -of -way accessibility guidelines standards. See details.
14. Contractor will be provided with electronic copy of plans for all layout
information. Contractor shall coordinate acad format with owner's representative.
Erosion Control Notes
1. See sheet C400 for the clearing and grubbing erosion control and sheet C500
for final grading erosion control plan
2. All erosional control installation and maintnence shall be per NCDEQ
guidelines.
3. Resident access paths for pedestrian or vehicular travel shall inspected and
swept daily.

constructed or reconstructed for maintenance procedures, traffic operoti4ns,
repairs. COFFectlon of utilities or uttered for any reason after September 1, 1973

curb and gutter and sidewalks are provided and at other points of pedestrian
flow.
In addition, section 228 of the 1973 Federal Aid Highway Safety Act requires
provision of curb ramps on any curb construction after July 1, 1976 whether a
sidewalk is proposed initially or is planned for o future date.

The Americans with Disability of 1990 extends to individuals with

disabilities. Comprehensive civil rights protections similar to those provided to
persons on the basis of race, sex, national origin and religion under the Civil
Rights Act of 1964. These curb ramps have been designed to comply with the
current ADA standards (2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, bated
September 15, 2010 & effective March 15, 2012),
2. Curb ramps are required when streets are altered for resurfacing (spanning one
intersection to another and includes overlay of additional material to the road
surface with or without milling), reconstructed, rehabilitated or widened.
Maintenanceactivities on streets, such as crack filling sealing, pavement markings,
surface sealing and pavement patching, are not alterations. However, if there is
..... no block -to -block resurfacing but resurfacing is occurring at a crosswalk itself,
partial resurfacing (curb -to -curb resurfacing of a crosswalk) requires the
provision of curb ramps of that crosswalk.
Curb ramps are not required in the absence of a pedestrian walkway with a
prepared surface nor are curb ramps required in the absence of curb, elevation
