Box 1507` { , N Washington. C. 27889 Dear Mr. Moore: This letter is in reference to the United Methodist Church in Duck, N. C. and their plans to place fill in '404' wetlands on their tract. The purpose of this fill is to construct a 200 foot-long by 45 foot wide crossing to obtain access to a sandy ridge on the Cur- rituck Sound side of their property. The Currituck Sound is clas- sified as S. C. waters in this area. The 9000 square feet of '404' wetland fill will not result in any fill being placed below the normal water level. The 2000 cubic yards of clean sand fill will be obtained from a local commerical supplier. The road bed will be constructed with a bottom width of 45 feet and sloped 2:1 to a height of 6 feet. The sides of the slopes will be grassed and stabilized. The purpose of this letter is to request authorization under the General Certification provided for in Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. I have enclosed a plat of the proposed work and a vicinity map. Should you require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Georg H.
