Observed some sediment washing off application fields. Much improved over last year though. 10. Waste has recently been applied to the application field (corn) and tilled -in to help control odor and reduce potential for run-off of sediment and waste. Waste was NOT applied within the required 25-foot setback from the stream and is therefore compliant. DO NOT till the land within 25-ft of the stream so that vegetation may establish. k 10. Buffers were recently seeded with a contractor blend (fescue, rye, millet, etc.). Buffers are to be seeded again, if needed, this Fall to establish permanent vegetation along the stream. 10. Waterways have been re -worked and were seeded to try to establish some vegetation (contractor blend seed). Ravines/gullies still need some improvement to eliminate run-off of waste and sediment into the stream. Suggest using straw, hay bales, and/or pushing woody debris along the field border to help control run-off. 15. Corn and small grain stands were not particularly abundant last year. Need a healthier and more uniform corn crop this year to absorb nutrients and reduce run-off. Mathis' are to plant corn starting next week. 33. Met with Mr. Koopman 4/18/2018 who followed -up by sending photos on 4/23/2018 of additional work (straw, hay, etc.) that was done in the field after my visit. 34.
