Carolina Trace WWTP
NPDES Permit NC0038831
L
Dear Mr. Bolich:
Raleigh Regional Office
In reference to the Notice of Violation dated 28 January 2019, we offer the following responses:
8(b) We will have the project engineer evaluate corrosion damage to the baffle walls in the EQ
basin as a part of their overall scope of work related to repair!replacement of the treatment unit
damaged by the hurricane.
8(c) Carolina Water Service is in the process of selecting an engineer to perform an evaluation of
the damaged treatment unit, with design and permitting completed by the end of 2019. If no major
obstacles arise, we would anticipate construction beginning in Spring 2020 to be completed within
10 months. The unit has been offline since flooding compromised its structural integrity during
Hurricane Florence on 16 September 2018 with no effluent quality violations other than a Fecal
exceed in November 2018 due to damaged UV system, which has been repaired.
8(e) The perimeter fence has been repaired since the inspection occurred and access to the facility
is now restricted.
Respectfully,
Dana Hill
Regional Manager
