7. EXTRA STRENGTH FILTER FABRIC WITH 6 FEET POST SPACING DOES NOT REQUIRE WIRE

8. EXCAVATE A TRENCH APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES WIDE AND 8 INCHES DEEP ALONG
THE PROPOSED LINE OF POSTS AND UPSLOPE FROM THE BARRIER. (SEE DETAIL)
9. PLACE 12 " OF FABRIC ALONG THE BOTTOM AND SIDE OF TRENCH.
10. BACKFILL THE TRENCH WITH SOIL PLACED OVER THE FILTER FABRIC AND COMPACT.
THOROUGH COMPACTION OF THE BACKFILL IS CRITICAL TO SILT FENCE PERFORMANCE.
11. DO NOT ATTACH FILTER FABRIC TO EXISTING TREES.
MAINTENANCE NOTES:
1. FILTER BARRIERS SHALL BE INSPECTED BY THE FINANCIALLY
RESPONSIBLE PARTY OR HIS AGENT IMMEDIATELY AFTER EACH
RAINFALL AND AT LEAST DAILY DURING PROLONGED RAINFALL.
ANY REPAIRS NEEDED SHALL BE MADE IMMEDIATELY.
2. SHOULD THE FABRIC DECOMPOSE OR BECOME INEFFECTIVE PRIOR TO THE END
OF THE EXPECTED USABLE LIFE AND THE BARRIER STILL IS NECESSARY, THE
FABRIC SHALL BE REPLACED PROMPTLY.
3. SEDIMENT DEPOSITS SHOULD BE REMOVED AFTER EACH STORM EVENT OR SILT
FENCE SHOULD BE REPLACED. THEY MUST BE REMOVED WHEN DEPOSITS REACH
APPROX. HALF THE HEIGHT OF THE BARRIER. ANY SEDIMENT DEPOSITS REMAINING IN

2. EXECUTION OF WORK. -
A.
SUBGRADE PREPARATION. REMOVE LOOSE MATERIAL FROM THE
SUBGRADE. SUBGRADE MUST BE COMPACTED IN 6" LIFTS
AND COMPRESSED TO AT LEAST 95% OF THE STANDARD
PROCTOR MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY (ASTM D698) FOR
AUTOMOBILE PARKING AND 1009 MODIFIED PROCTOR MAXIMUM
DRY DENSITY (ASTM D 1557 FOR TRUCK AREAS). JUST PRIOR
TO PLACING ASPHALT, MOISTEN SUBGRADE AS REQUIRED TO
PROVIDE A UNIFORM DAMPENED SURFACE AT THE TIME THE
ASPHALT IS PLACED.
B. PROOF ROLLING — PROOF ROLL AREA OF PAVING WITH FOUR
PASSES OF A SINGLE AXLE HEAVY LOADED DUMP TRUCK,
MINIMUM STATIC WEIGHT OF 20 TONS. IF THE SOILS RUT
OR PUMP UNDER THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK, THE AREAS ARE
TO BE UNDERCUT TO A DEPTH AND HORIZONTAL EXTENT
DETERMINED BY A SOILS ENGINEER. UNDERCUT MATERIAL
SHALL BE REPLACED WITH APPROVED FILL MATERIAL.
C. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING
A QUALIFIED GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER TO VERIFY BEARING
CAPACITY AND THE RESULTS SHOULD BE SENT TO THE
ENGINEER OF RECORD. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING SCHEDULE

SPECIFICATIONS.
B. ALL SIDEWALKS SHALL BE FULL 4" THICK 4000 PSI

INTERVALS INDICATED ON SITE PLAN. PROVIDE EXPANSION
JOINTS ADJACENT TO ALL RIGID STRUCTURES. EXPANSION
JOINT SPACING SHALL NOT EXCEED JO'.
C. ALL CURBING SHALL BE 4000 psi CONCRETE.
D. ALL DIMENSIONS ARE TO FACE OF CURB UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED
E. DRIVEWAYS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED TO STATE AND LOCAL CODES
4. ACCESSIBLE PARKING:
A. AN ACCESSIBLE PARKING SPACE SHALL HAVE NO
GREATER SLOPE THAN 1/4" PER FOOT ACROSS THE SPACE.
B. HANDRAILS ARE TO BE PROVIDED ON ACCESSIBLE RAMPS
WITH A DROP OF TWO INCHES OR MORE.
C. MAX. SLOPE FOR AN ACCESSIBLE ROUTE (SIDEWALK)
SHALL BE 5.07 (1:20).
D. ALL ACCESSIBLE PARKING SPACES SHALL DISPLAY APPROVED

5. GENERAL NOTES. -
A.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE SITE AND FAMILIARIZE
HIMSELF WITH THE EXISTING CONDITIONS BEFORE
TO THE START OF WORK.
B. ALL DISTANCES AND DATA SHALL BE CHECKED BY THE
CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION, IN
CASE OF CONFLICT, THE ENGINEER SHALL BE NOTIFIED
IMMEDIATELY SO THAT CLARIFICATIONS MAY BE MADE PRIOR
SUBMITTING HIS BID.
C. ALL EXISTING DEMOLISHED PAVEMENT SHALL BE REMOVED
BY THE CONTRACTOR AND DISPOSED OF ON SITE IN A
LOCATION TO BE DETERMINED BY THE OWNER.
D. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY AND ESTABLISH SURVEY
CONTROL, INCLUDING THE HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL
CONTROL POINTS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN THIS
CONTROL AND PROVIDE ALL BENCHMARKS, STAKES, GRADES,
LEVELS, AND LINES NECESSARY FOR CONSTRUCTION.
CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL PROVIDE ADEQUATE SUPERVISION TO
PREVENT DAMAGE AND MOVEMENT FROM EQUIPMENT WORKING
AROUND CONSTRUCTION STAKES. THESE CONSTRUCTION
STAKES SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE & BE PROTECTED UNTIL
OWNER APPROVES THEIR REMOVAL. ANY STAKES THAT HAVE
BEEN DISPLACED AS A RESULT OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY
ARE TO BE REPLACED BY A LICENSED LAND SURVEYOR
ENGAGES BY THE CONTRACTOR AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.
E. ALL EXISTING IMPROVEMENTS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF
CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS SHALL BE RESTORED TO THEIR
ORIGINAL CONDITION TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER.
F. ALL EXISTING PAVEMENT AND CONCRETE TO BE JOINED
SHALL BE SAWCUT.
G. BURNING ON, OR NEAR THE JOB SITE WILL NOT BE
PERMITTED.
H. UPON COMPLETION OF THE WORK, THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL CLEAN THE ENTIRE SITE OF ALL CONSTRUCTION
RELATED MATERIAL AND DEBRIS.
6. JOINT CONSTRUCTION
A. ALL JOINTS SHALL BE SEALED WITH JOINT SEALER.
B. SAWED JOINTS. FORM CONTRACTION JOINTS USING SAWS
EQUIPPED WITH DIAMOND RIMMED BLADES. CUT JOINTS
INTO CONCRETE PAVING AS SOON AS THE SURFACE WILL
NOT BE RAVELED OR OTHERWISE DAMAGED BY CUTTING
ACTION. JOINTS MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 12 TO 24
HOURS AFTER PAVING HAS BEEN PLACED.
C. EXPANSION (ISOLATION) JOINTS. PROVIDE EXPANSION
JOINT TO ISOLATE FIXED OBJECTS ABUTTING OR WITHIN
THE PAVED AREA.
D. CONSTRUCTION JOINTS. ALL CONSTRUCTION JOINTS SHALL
BE CUT AFTER THE CONCRETE HAS FULLY CRACKED.
THESE JOINTS SHALL BE CUT IN THE MANNER STATED
UNDER ITEM 2(SAWED JOINTS).
