Dear Mr. Powell:
On May 23, 2019, Brian Lambe from the Wilmington Regional Office of the Division of Energy, Mineral,
and Land Resources (DEMLR), conducted a compliance evaluation inspection for New River Marina
located in James St, Sneads Ferry, Onslow County, North Carolina. The site drains to New River, which is
currently classified as Class SA HOW Waters in the White Oak River Basin.
The industrial process that you are engaged in requires a NPDES General Stormwater Permit NCG190000
Marinas and Boatbuilding. Please schedule an inspection to review applicability of the permit to your
site. You may qualify for no exposure if certain changes are implemented. In lieu of an inspection,
submit a Notice of Intent within 15 days. Upon receipt of the NOI, an inspector will inspect the site and
review permit requirements. The permit will require:
1) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP)
2) Qualitative Monitoring and Analytical Monitoring
3) Yearly Permit Fee
Thank you for your assistance and cooperation during this inspection. Please be advised that violations
of the NPDES Stormwater General Permit may be subject to a civil penalty assessment of up to
$25,000.00 per day for each violation. If you have any questions, comments, or need assistance with
