SUBJECT: Start of Study Notification for Upcoming Bridge Replacement Projects
The Project Development and Environmental Analysis Branch is starting the project
development, environmental and engineering studies for the replacement of the follow Bridge
projects. These projects are included in the North Carolina Transportation Improvement
Program and are scheduled for construction in fiscal year 2015.

TIP Project No. B-4636 - Replacement of Bridge No. 56 on NC 24 over Six Runs Creek in
Sampson County
TIP Project No. B-4730 - Replacement of Bridge No. 108 on SR 1549 over Terrells Creek in
Chatham County
TIP Project No. B-4781 - Replacement of Bridge No. 226 on SR 1557 over Wheeler Creek in
Onslow County
TIP Project No. B-4967 - Replacement of Bridge No. 8 on SR 1203/SR 1412 over Drowning
Creek on the Scotland/Hoke County border.
TIP Project No. B-5156 - Replacement of Bridge No. 28 on NC 210 over Long Creek in Pender
County.
TIP Project No. B-5164 - Replacement of Bridge No. 178 on SR 1484 over Buffalo Creek in
Moore County.
We would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating
potential environmental impacts of these projects including recommendation of alternatives to be
studied. Your comments will be used in the preparation of a federally funded Categorical
Exclusion, prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. It is desirable
that your agency respond by November 30, 2009 so that your comments can be used in the
selection of alternatives to be studied for these projects.
