Explain the purpose of the proposed project:* The purpose of the proposed project is to hault an advancing headcut which is rapidly migrating upstream. A stream restoration project will eventually repair a lot of the degraded reaches in the vicinity; however, there are some areas upstream that look stable. Stopping the headcut with this emergency stabilization will prevent the preservation area from being degraded. 4i. Describe the overall project in detail, including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:* The project proposes to stabilize the eroding channel by re -grading and installing a series of log drop structures to gradually decrease the grade. Construction access will cross a wetland using timber mats --this access will also utilize an eAsting sanitary sewer easement to minimize impacts to vegetation. Typical construction equipment and proper erosion and sediment control techniques will be used. 4j. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project: this project is designed as an emergency stabilization project. Access will be across an epsting sanitary sewer easement and minimal clearing will be done for access. Length of repair is minimum necessary to accommodate change in grade produced by headcut with drops no more than 6" per structure. Ib. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques: Access will be across an existing sanitary sewer easement and minimal clearing will be done for access. Timber mats will be used to minimize disturbance to existing wetlands downstream; pump around will be used during construction. 2.
