This letter is to notify the DWQ Regional Of -lice that AlTi Allvac — Monroe Site has collected the requested
analytical monitoring for zinc off of the galvanized steel structures positioned in the drainage area for our
representative outfall. The analytical report is attached and the summary of values are as follows:
Finishing Bldg. — 0,294 mg/L -- ' `- g 3 m
GFM Bldg. — 0.187 mg/L
Press Bldg. — 0.116 rng/L d
Conditioning Bldg — 0.098 mg/L d,
Stormwater #02(M) Outfall — 0.392 mg/LO,
Again, I would like to reiterate that we communicated to NCDENR our concerns with meeting the
benchmark values for zin when our permit was in draft stage. There is no zinc in our products and zinc is
not used in any of our processes. Again, we feel that our zinc benchmark value is in our permit only
because it is a regulated constituent in EPA's ELG for titanium producers. As stated before, technical data
sheets for our most common titanium alloys processed at the Monroe facility were sent to NCDENR and
show that zinc is not in our products.
Allvac tequests a re-evaluation of the zinc limit and propose that we be given a condition to "monitor only"
for zinc, so that we can evaluate the effectiveness of the BMPs for sweeping our impervious areas for this
outfall. hi the ineantitne, we plan to duplicate the zinc monitoring stated above as requested by DWQ.
