NCS000330 — ZINC MONITORING: Dear Samar Bou-Ghazale: This letter is to notify the DWQ Regional Office that ATI Allvac — Monroe Site has collected the requested analytical monitoring for zinc off of the galvanised steel structures positioned in the drainage area for our representative outUl. This is the 2nd sampling event conducted as requested by DWQ. There is no zinc in our products and zinc is not used in any of our processes. We feel that our zinc benchmark value is in our permit only because it is a regulated constituent in EPA's ELG for titanium producers. As stated before, technical data sheets for our titanium alloys were sent to NCDENR and show that zinc is not in our products. Also, we have implemented BMPs to control potential sources of zinc, such as oil and rubber from tire wear. These include routine elcjaning o1' our roads by an industrial service provider, and routine maintenance of our mobile equipment to reduce hydraulic oil leaks. Allvac requests to "monitor only" for zinc, so that we can evaluate the effectiveness of these BMPs . In the meantime, we plan to duplicate the zinc monitoring stated above for a 3rd time as requested by DWQ. S' cerely, Preston M.
