Belhaven Collection System
Beaufort County
Dear Mrs. Davis:
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Belhaven Collection System on
November 2, 2018. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the
conditions and limitations specified in Collection System Permit No. WQCS00175. A summary of the findings and
comments noted during the inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report.
The Collection System Non -sampling inspection was conducted by Division of Water Resources staff from the
Washington Regional Office. The following deficiencies were noted during the inspection:

Pump Station California Pump Station - High -Water Alarms and SCADA system not working.
Performance Standards Capital Improvement Plan — Plan should be updated to reflect short term needs and goals.
Operation & Maintenance Generator Maintenance Records — recent records are missing and/or incomplete.
Requirements
Pump Station King Street Pump Station - Visual Alarm not working.

Remedial actions should have already been taken to correct this problem and prevent further occurrences in the
future. The Division of Water Resources may pursue enforcement action for violations of State law. To prevent
further action, carefully review these deficiencies and address the causes of non-compliance to prevent the
recurrence of similar situations. Also, please respond to this Notice your intentions to correct the listed deficiencies.
A follow-up inspection will be scheduled in the near future.
