No. SAW -2005-00748 Dear Mr. Placzek: On December 21, 2018, the Division of Water Resources (Division) received your request to modify Certification Number 3872 issued to the United States Coast Guard, dated May 17, 2017. This request was concurrent with a request to modify the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) authorization SAW -2005-00748 for the same activity. The USACE public noticed the project on October 30, 2018. The requested modifications include dredging at the US Coast Guard Sector Field Office Fort Macon to deepen the existing mooring basin in order to accommodate new vessels. Specifically, the modifications include increasing the permitted dredging depth in the center basin to -17' +2' overdepth MLW (from -14.5' +1' overdepth MLW) and to maintain the outer basin to a depth of -22' +2' overdepth MLW. The small boat basin is currently not proposed to be dredged deeper than the authorized -12' + 2' overdepth MLW. Further modification requests include maintenance dredging by hydraulic pipeline or mechanical dredge. Material will be disposed at Brandt Island Disposal Site, transported to an upland disposal site via truck, or transported to Morehead City Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). Attached hereto is a copy of Certification No. 3872 issued to the United States Coast Guard, dated January 8, 2019. This Certification replaces the previous Certification issued on May 17, 2017.
