Linda,
The Brightener agent has a pH between 1.0 — 2.0, depending on what the operating pH of the dip tank is than this spill
could be considered hazardous waste.
We would need to know the operating pH of the tank after the addition of water and the fungicide. This will also
influence how they dispose of the absorbents or soils that Karen mentioned in the spill summary. I will contact her to get
more information and then we should discuss next steps with DEQ and Dept. of AG.

On December 19, 2018 | was traveling to a facility in Caldwell County. On the way to that facility, | passed Oak Valley
Hardwoods in Burke County (NCG210455). I could see that their Dip Tank Had overflowed and stopped to document it. I
contacted Oak Valley Hardwoods and was called a short time later by Karen Ledford. She was very responsive and went
to the facility immediately. I informed her that we needed a summary of the spill, what actions were taken to contain it,
and what improvements would be made to prevent future issues. I have attached the letter she sent. Below are the
pictures |emai|edtoher concerning the spill.

She is currently pursuing all actions to run the wastewater from the Kiln into the city sewer.
