Thank you for the support of your agency in the matters related to the Chemours chemical
manufacturing facility inFayetteville, North Carolina
Water quality protection and wastewater management strategies remain fundamental to promoting
public health and strengthening our state'seconomy. North Carolina General Statutes and
implementation of the Clean Water Act requirements guide our commitment to water quality an
protection of public health. The Toxic Substance Control Act (T3[A) which is not delegated to the states
is the initial gateway to chemical manufacturing. We appreciate the complexity in the review/of
manufacturing registrations and the balance taken to support economic growth with product services.
States rely on the U8EPAfor those evaluations to ensure chemical manufacturing is accomplished in a
manner protective ofthe environment and public health.
In that role we ask for the USEPA to support the follow national xxx:
w Ensure the federal TSCA chemical manufacturing registrations are conducted such that
byproducts are evaluated from other onsite production lines, including consequences of
wastewater discharges.
