Hi Connie,
Can I call you to learn more about how you want to share the data? Maybe I am being overly cautious.

Good afternoon, Detlef,
Please clarify the message a bit more for us. I did not realize when I requested the information that it had
been sent to Julie on Monday night. So, what is the status of the data set? If already reported to the media,
but, it has not been fully vetted through your review process, was it caveated for the media — and perhaps
they did not respect your wishes? Or other scenario?
We are working with numerous interested and concerned parties and DEQ does not wish to misrepresent
your research in any way. Clarification is really important to us.
Please advise.
Respectfully,

I am awaiting additional QA/QC data for this data set, Connie.
Can we wait with the official release? The newspaper in Wilmington has reported the 172 ng/L concentration
that we measured in the Tar Heel sample.

To whom would you be releasing the data?
Best,
Detlef

Good morning, Detlaf,
1, first, would like to thank you for your time and efforts in getting our two Departments up to
date on your investigations in the Cape Fear. We are appreciative of the body of work, and
fully recognize that we have more information to gather in the very near future.
Dr. Risen and I would like to ask for the analytical data (if it is QA/QC'd ??) that was
collected in the December 2016 timeframe. We are hearing from local health departments that
the public is awaiting those results, as it has been brought their attention via numerous news
reports. Amy and I were not sure that those had been released (published) yet? If they can be
shared — it would be most helpful — if additional QA needs to be performed and you wish to
caveat the release we will be most respectful of that issue. If you have specific
acknowledgements that should accompany the release — please advise.
Amy and I look forward to working with you to further the discussions.
Regards,
Connie
