Water Advisory ("P\NA") from Brunswick Regional
VVater& Sewer H2Go ("H2Go"). H2Go purportedly
intends topublish this PVVAtoits customers. TheP\NA
recommends that H2Go customers find alternative
sources ofdrinking water due tothe presence ofC8and
GenXinthe Cape Fear River.
While H2Go suggests kbnot "hitting the panic button,"
|amconcerned that will bethe practical effect ofthe
PVVA--vvhetherxvarranted or not. | am mindful of the
June l2,2Ol7statement published bythe Occupational
Environmental Epidemiology Branch ofthe North
Carolina Department ofHealth and Human Services,
citing aDerived NoEffect Level of7U,9O9no/LofGenX
based onaZ'yearchronic toxicity study, and concluding
that the GenXlevels detected inthe Cape Fear River
"would beexpected topose alow risk tohuman
hea|th." HJGo'sPVVAappears tocontradict DHH5's
own position. | recognize that the agencies copied
hereon are tasked with evaluating the toxicity ofthese
substances and establishing standards protective ofthe
public. Due tothe urgency ofthis issue, | request your
