HomeMy WebLinkAboutDEQ-CFW_00021871,111VAM00 M= ARRIVAL: Please arrive at Kenan Auditorium at 6 p.m. Wednesday to allow time for set-up and microphone checks. You can enter the auditorium from the rear the building. The forum is slated to start at 7 p.m. and should end at 9 p.m. LOCATION: Kenan Auditorium is toward the front of UNCW and faces South College Road. For those unfamiliar with campus, please see the attached map. PARKING: Parking will be available in the surface lot directly adjacent to Kenan Auditorium. The entrance is along Randall Drive. SEATING: All panelists will be seated on the stage for the duration of the forum. Tara Noland, the venue's technical director, will assist panelists once onstage. STREAMING: WWAY NEWS will stream the meeting on its website. WHQR will broadcast the forum live on WHQR News 91.3 FM. QUESTIONS: In an effort to save time and get as many questions answered as possible, we will not have microphones in the seating area of the auditorium. Questions from the public will be collected in advance of and during the event. Moderators will ask questions from those submitted. • Welcome, Pam Sander, StarNews, and Kevin Wuzzardo, WWAY -- 2-3 minutes • Moderators Si Cantwell (StarNews), Amanda Fitzpatrick (WWAY) and Vince Winkel (WHQR) introduce themselves, all panelists, explain structure and flow and Q&A process -- 5 minutes • Woody White, chairman of the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners, speaks on what's being done -- 5 minutes • Dr. Detlef Knappe, a professor at N.C. State University and part of a team of researchers that evaluated the presence of GenX in the Cape Fear River, speaks on human impacts -- 5 minutes • Megan M. Hunter, a resident attorney with Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services of Akron, Ohio, on legal and moral issues -- 5 minutes • Natalie English, president and CEO of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, speaks on economic impacts -- 5 minutes • Moderator Si Cantwell shifts event to Q&A process -- 5 minutes • Q&A: I hour, 25 minutes. Moderators will rotate asking questions submitted by the public • Moderator Amanda Fitzpatrick wraps up DEQ-CFW-00021871 Mike Brown is chairman of the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority board. Dr. Philip Brown is New Hanover Regional Medical Center's Chief Physician Executive. He oversees care quality, care transformation and physician leadership. He is a vascular surgeon and former chief of the NEIRMC Medical Staff. Kemp Burdette is the Cape Fear Riverkeeper and works to protect and improve the water quality of the Lower Cape Fear River. Larry Cahoon is a professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Water quality analysis is among his research interests. Natalie English is the president and CEO of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. Jim Flechtner is the executive director of the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority. Mike Giles is a coastal advocate with the North Carolina Coastal Federation. Stan Harts is the director of Environmental Health & Safety at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Sheila Holman is assistant secretary for environment with the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality. Megan M. Hunter is a resident attorney with Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services of Akron, Ohio. Dr. Detlef Knappe is a professor at N.C. State University interested in drinking water quality and treatment and was part of a team of researchers that evaluated the presence of GenX in the Cape Fear River. Bill Saffo has served as mayor of Wilmington since 2006. Phillip Tarte is the director of New Hanover County's Health Department. Woody White is serving his second term on the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners and is chairman of the board. Dr. Joseph Wilde-Ramsing is a senior researcher with the Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
