Show Time As: Busy
Recurrence: (none)
As promised, I have scheduled this time for coordination and planning of sampling, analysis, and reporting of INIC PFAS
concentrations. I apologize for short notice and scheduling conflicts but I am not able to see everyone's calendar. Mark
Strynar and | will be in Athens R4 labs at this time so hopefully it will work for us to conduct the call together. Feel free
toshare invite with anyone | might have missed.
Below I am including the agenda from our meeting on Tues and the notes that I distributed to guide our discussion.
The agenda for discussion included the following:
l. What question are we attempting to address with this sampling effort?
I. What isthe sampling design?
3. What isthe status and timeline ofthe CkAPP?
4. Given split sample analysis (contract lab and NERL lab), how will differences in reported concentrations be
managed?
5. What is the plan for communicating results and who has the lead?
6. What bthe project timeline?
7. Duvveneed on -going coordination meetings?
Action items / notes include:
* Chris Johnson was identified asthe PO[for NCDECL
w The primary question to be addressed by the sampling is whether GenX concentrations have decreased since
concentrations reported inSun etal. 2U16paper from samples taken in2D13.
* Some aspects of the sampling design were described: sampling will be conducted of source and finished drinking
water as well as source effluent. Linda Culpepper was identified as the person responsible for the sampling plan
OEQ-CFVV_00021570
* Sampling began Monday 19 June and is planned to continue for three more weeks. Approximately SOsamples
are expected to be collected. Split samples will be sent to KTP and contract lab Test America in Colorado
w Mark Strynarindicated that he can turn -around samples in 1'2vveeks.
* The QAPP is being developed by Linda Culpepper of NC DEQ but she was not on the call to describe status.
* The list of target analytes has yet to be determined. There is interest in chemicals related to GenX production. It
was suggested that the analyte list be determined by consensus among NC DEQ, R4, and EPA-RTP.
w The need for blanks and spike samples were discussed. It was suggested that spike samples be in the
concentration range of7Uno/L
w The contract laboratory conducing analysis isTest America inColorado. Mark Strynarisgoing tocontact the lab
to obtain analysis method.
w Communications plan has not been developed; N[DE{lhas the lead
* Samples will be delivered in batches. NC DEC\will deliver samples to RTP.
w Tim Buckley agreed to set up weekly meetings for planning and coordination
* Mark Strynar and Tim Buckley will be visiting R4 Athens lab 6/26 & 27 to provide tech transfer on GenX analysis
