We discussed PF0As in the renewal. GenXxvas introduced to replace PFOAs. GenX never came up in the course of the
renewal.
As a result it is not monitored in this permit, so will not be in the annual reports.

Linda,
I don't know if this has been addressed, but the subject facility does have a permit to distribute Class A residual solids
(Permit: No. WQD03543I). I'm not sure if the itern of concern is present in the residuals, but Troy can pull the annual
report and look eLthe sampling data. !fthe annual report does not include this compound, itmay beofinterest 10
sample the residuals to determine if it is present.

Em
Shallow wells located inthe Ooodp|ainare the highest priority. They are most likely tobeimpacted, especially ifthe
stream/river isatflood stage.
Deeper wells in a confined aquifer will not be impacted.
Except during floods, ground water flow btoward surface water bodies. While awater body iuflooded, surface water
may flow into the surficia| aquifer, but that water will return to the surface water body once flooding is over.
Let me know if you need anything additional.

Background
Mark Brantley (FRO) is taking samples from the 8|aden Bluff water treatment plant: the water intake,
finished water and the well. It is the closest tothe Cape Fear River.
Steve West (WiRO) is sampling the Wilmington AIRS well and the Wrightsville Beach well near the ARS.
Bob Midgette let us know that a public water supply well would not be permitted if it is under the
influence of surface water. Local Health Dept. just need background on groundwater flow to surface
water to explain it to people.
