Dear Mr. Merrifield:
On July 22, 2009, the Express Review Program of the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) received your
stormwater management plan (SMP) application dated July 20, 2009, along with supporting information
including stormwater management plan sheets dated July 22, 2009 (Engineer's Seal), design calculations
and operation and maintenance (O & M) agreements from Mr. Adam Nowocin, PE of N-Focus Design,
Inc. for the above referenced project. Please provide the following information so that we may
continue to review your project and prevent return of your application as required by 15A NCAC
2H.0506:
Additional Information Requested
Wet Pond 1:
a. Please revise the temporary pool volume 234,470 ft3 on page 4 of the average pond depth
information to match the 80,229 ft3 that is actually provided and reported on the supplement
form and other areas.
b. The pond bottom and sediment bottom elevations in the plan view on sheet C400 should be
revised to match the correct values reported in the cross section, the supplement form as well
as the operation and maintenance agreement.
2. Wet Pond 2 Orifice Outlet Configuration:
a. This office recommends an 8-inch PVC pipe with a 5-inch orifice drilled in the cap.
3. Operation and Maintenance Agreements:
a. Please revise page 3 of the operation and maintenance agreement for each pond to reflect the
appropriate measuring device readings for both the permanent pool and the forebay. For
example, the reading for pond 1 indicating sediment removal shall be l Oft and not 659.50ft.

4. Planting Plan:
a. Please choose a shrub other than Myrica cerifera for your wet detention ponds, since it is a
known nitrogen-fixing plant.
b. Quercus lyrata (Overcup oak) produces lots of acorns for Canada goose fodder, and so
should be avoided if geese may become a problem.
Please respond within five (5) days of the date of this letter by sending two (2) copies of the above
information and any revisions in writing. The Express Review Program is a process that requires all
parties to participate in a timely manner.
This letter only addresses the application review and does not authorize any impacts to wetlands, waters or
protected buffers. Please be aware that any impacts requested within your application are not authorized (at
this time) by the DWQ.
