SUBJECT: Status of Lagoon Closure & Proposed
Permit Application for Landfarming
of Sludge, E. I. DuPont De Nemours
& Co. Fayetteville Plant and Farm
Site, Bladen Co.
Your letter to the Fayetteville Regional Office of July 29, 1988 proposed
a date of Oct. 31, 1988 for submitting an application for a land application of
sludge nondischarge permit. In addition, you proposed a date of Dec. 31, 1988
for your new above -ground aeration tank to be ready for service and a date of
Jan. 31, 1989 to begin sending fresh sludge to the holding basin rather than the
lagoons. You had also proposed to begin closure of the lagoons by July 31, 1989.
The Fayetteville Regional Office would like some additional information
concerning your progress and any change of plans in the above mentioned
matters by Feb. 10, 1989.
