Regulation and it is used for a number of groundwater cleanup sites in Fayetteville NC as Dupont manufactured the
chemical at the facility until recent years.

Good afternoon, everyone,
North Carolina established an MAC ( interim standard) for groundwater (not surface water or public water
supply purposes) in 2006 using toxicity data available at the time. That number is 2 ug/I for PFOA.
Subsequently, our NC Science Advisory Board reviewed the data and suggested a number that was
approximately I ug/l. No state action was taken on those proposals due to lack of staffing. Undoubtedly,
additional data is available for a revised criterion to be proposed. We are hopeful that as staff is being hired,
we may see a revision in the near future.
