Bridget, See attached message from Rebecca with the estimated total service population of the five public water systems with Cape Fear sources downstream of Fayetteville. The estimated total service population (322,287) includes the retail population (i.e., customers served directly) and wholesale population (i.e., customers served by public water systems that purchase treated water from the systems that have an intake in the Cape Fear River. FYI Brunswick County sells treated water to: Town of Leland, City of Southport, Town of Oak Island, Town of Shallotte, Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer Authority, City of Northwest. In addition Brunswick County has an interconnection to the Village of Bald Head Island, but provides only about 5% or less of the demand. 2. International Paper sells water to the Rieglewood Sanitary District. 3. CFPUA sells water to the Port of Wilmington. Please contact me or Rebecca if you have any questions of need anything else. :e. Also, what are the regulations governing chemicals like Gen X that don't yet have a determination regarding their toxicity? Can you tell me how many industries discharge into the Cape Fear River? And how many people get their drinking water from the river? Steve Devnane Staff Writer The Fayetteville Observer 910.486.3572 - office 910.978.8452 - mobile DEQ-CFW 00072983
