Dear Resident, The Chemours Company is contacting you to provide preliminary information regarding the water sample it recently took from your home. As you know, that sample was taken as part of a program to determine whether traces of the chemical compound HFP0-DA (sometimes referred to as "Gen V or "C3 dimer") is present in local drinking water wells. Chemours has received preliminary results from the independent laboratory that is analyzing the sample. We have shared those preliminary results received thus far with the state Department of Environmental Quality and the state Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). With the agencies' concurrence, we are sharing the results with you, in advance of receiving a final report from the laboratory. The results indicate that the sample taken from the well on your property has a level of GenX above the recommended state health goal of 140 parts per trillion. We expect final, certified results of the analysis run by the lab on the sample from your well to be ready within a week. When those results are finalized, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality will conduct an independent and formal review of the data and communicate with you to share further information. In the interim, I would like to remind you that Chemours will provide you bottled drinking water free of charge. Bottled water remains available at the Chemours facility for your pick-up between gam and 8pm; Chemours will also arrange to deliver water to your home if you wish. We are delivering water to your home along with this letter. Should you wish to speak with someone at Chemours regarding future deliveries, please call 678-1015 and leave your name and phone number. Enclosed is a Fact Sheet prepared by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, which contains information about GenX that the Department asked us to share with you along with sharing the preliminary sampling results. Chemours is committed to being a responsible member of this community and a good neighbor. We are working to remedy this matter transparently and as quickly as possible, in cooperation with the agencies; and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to you and your family. Please contact xxx with any questions.
