This means Week 6 samples will be the last ones taken during the production run. Unsure of when production will resume. Brief discussion on changes in climate moving forward and how drier weather and river flow decreases may impact GenX concentrations. This is something that will be monitored. DEQ-CFW 00024054 * DE[\expects test results for several of the other nine perfluorinated compounds to come in from the EPA lab in RTP in the next couple weeks. An EPA lab in Athens, Ga., will start assisting with these tests in mid -September. * Some of the results for the nine other perfluorinated compounds will be quantitative, but other results will be qualitative because ofthe lack ofalaboratory test standard for the compounds. These compounds that lack test standards are referred toas"tentatively identified compounds." * DEQ noted public and media interest in the testing at the 16 monitoring wells at the Chemours facility that started Tuesday. Results from EPA will take about a month to come in, and results will dictate next steps (i.e. possibly testing private wells near the fad|ity). * DEQ was informed that the latest results from testing being done by Cape Fear Public Utility Authority are below the health goal. DEQ will try to get a sense of when to expect the Week 6 test results from the EPA and TestAmerica. Early thoughts from DE{l: short press release if results continue downward trend. Activities for the Day & Week: * DEQ/DHHS to finalize external Q&A and will continue updating internal Q&A as needed w DHHS is finalizing a list of questions to submit to the CDC about GenX and other compounds and will share with DE{ltoday before submission. Federal Update: The Governor spoke to the CDC director briefly yesterday. The CDC director noted legislation that cleared the House and is now in the Senate — it would allocate $7 million to the Department of Defense for research around compounds like GenX. CDC has been in contact with the DoD about possible use of the funds, and any research would likely take 2-4 years. CDC director reiterated commitment to doing an assessment on long -term -exposure to GenX and providing an expert panel for the state to use as a resource. 0obmyCubun Press Assistant Office of Communications Wo1h Carolina Department of Health and Human Services 9188554840 office 101 Blair Drive, Adams Building 2001 Mail Service Center Raleigh, NC 27699-2001 f, m'?nn/a7nnwynmnon?i/xmmnvS, ixxob/:yV/h ndhmnV8i/mf»ubnffnYLaw/mn/naywo`/ndynhhkdpmnO Twitter YouTube Email correspondence mand from this address is subject tothe, North Carolina Public Records Law and may be. disclosed to third parties byanauthorized State official.
