HomeMy WebLinkAboutDEQ-CFW_00023596* Water samples collected on July 12 in the Fayetteville area and July 13 in the Wilmington area show all finished water sites have concentrations of GenX below the health goal of 140 parts per trillion. Samples in both regions collected the previous week also reflected this downward trend, except for one anomaly at the Blade Bluffs industrial site. Test results for samples taken at this location came back below the health goal in the most recent round of testing. *Samples from locations showelevated concentrations of GenX in raw water that reflect the continued discharge by Chemours in early July. At the request of the state and others, Chemours began diverting the main source of GenX away from the river and into holding tanks 0 GenX levels are trending downward. People can continue drinking and using their water. 0 Some fluctuation in results is expected for measurements in the parts per trillion range or a single second out of 32,000 years 0 A number of factors can influence sampling concentrations, including differences in rainfall and river flows 0 DEQ and DHHS will continue to monitor trends in the testing results and keep the public updated on any developments DEQ-CFW-00023597
