I have contracted with two outside testing labs to test for GenX in two of our wells. I really appreciate the EPA being willing to test also. That will make Our data consistent: with the other sites. If I understand correctly, the sampling will be coordinated through NCDEQ and that they will deliver the samples to EPA here in RTP. Please let me know if the process has changed, otherwise we'll go ahead with this plan. Let me know if you have any questions. Ov> Subject: Confidential: GenX tests Dear Jennifer Orme-Zavaleta, PhD, DEQ-CFW 00023517 | hope this email finds you well. |amthe Town Manager for the Town ofCarolina Beach North Carolina and | would like torequest your help with some sampling and tests. | was given your name bythe NC DEQ-DWR regarding testing you have been performing for the GenX issue in the Wilmington Area. Previously the State indicated to us that the Pee Dee aquifer had not tested positive for the GenX compound. However, recently Wrightsville Beach receive a positive test result of 24 to 28 ppt of GenX atWell # 11that draws water from the Pee Dee Aquifer. Carolina Beach is approximately miles from the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority's ASR Well and the Wrightsville Well # 11 and we too draw water from the Pee Dee aquifer. My council and their constituents are very concerned about the possibility of the Pee Dee Aquifer having GenX and potentially effecting our wells. We would like to participate in the current study sampling run through the EPA lab in Raleigh regarding this issue. VVebelieve that our results could be used by the EPA as a control site for this issue. We are formally requesting to be a part of this study or if that is not possible, we would like to pay the EPA to perform tests on two samples from our wells. We intend on paying two other firms to also test these samples. This way we can have confirmation from different lab ofthe results. Please let meknow ifyou are willing tohelp uswith our efforts. | look forward to hearing from you.
