Departmentof Environmental Quality 2l7West Jones Street Raleigh, NC 27603 Dear Ms. Sink: Under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S.8l32-L,lam requesting to obtain copies of public records pertaining toNPDfISapplications and permits, both current and historical, applied for and obtained by DuPont and/or Chemours for the Fayetteville Works plant in Bladen County. This request iofor both the applications and the permits issued, aowell asany supporting dncuonentadnn, monitoring and correspondence regarding the applications or the permits. The current permit number is NCO003573 but please interpret this request to include any otherNP[)GS permits applied for or issued toDuPont and/or Chernoursfor the Fayetteville Works plant. Wherever possible, lwould prefer that these documents be submitted in digital format. If there are any fees for obtaining these records, please inform me if the cost willexceed $lOO. However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that am a journalist working for the StarNews newspaper in Wilmington, N.C. Disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public's understanding of the ongoing story involving wastewater discharge from the Fayetteville Works plant into the Cape Fear River. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes. The law requires that you respond Wand fulfill this request "as promptly as possible." If you expect a significant delay in responding to and fulfilling this request, please contact rnewith information about when I might expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records. If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.
