The first section of this work plan describes the hydraulic modeling that was conducted to determine the dilution associated with the reporting g :: : that will be used by the laboratory during analysis of the supplemental groundwater samples. The next section of the work plan details the field sampling and analytical laboratory methods that the field team and laboratory personnel will follow. The Data Evaluation section outlines how data will be analyzed. The Reporting section escri es how .:e results and conclusions will be presented. DEQ-CFW 00043804 TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM SUPPLEMENTAL SAMPLING WORK ELAN - CHEMC ORS FAYETTEVILLE WORKS FACILITY Page 2 To determine Whether the rimer Water concentrations of C4, C5, and C7 reported in 2005 could potentially have been a result of groundwater discharge from the Site, groundwater samples Will be collected from five existing monitoring Wells in the Site's monitoring well network (Figure 3). Samples Will be collected from the three northernmost monitoring wells ( MW-10, MW-11, and SMW-12) located near Willis Creel. In addition, groundwater samples Will be collected at two locations along the river -front property boundary (LTW-02 and LTW-05), The samples Will be collected in accordance with the procedures described in the Sampling and Analysis Plan that Was presented in Section 4.2 of the approved Phase 111 RCRA Facility Investigation Work Plan (Parsons 2011). In carder to avoid a true detection of the C4, COB or C7 compounds, Which is neither the intent nor goal of this voluntary groundwater monitoring, the three compounds Will be analyzed in groundwater samples With the analyte reporting limit (Le., practical quantitation limit) set equal to 1,000 n /L or 1 micrograms per liter (pag/Q. No "estimated" results Will be reported (Le., detections above the method detection limit but leas than the practical quantitation limit). DEQ-CFW 00043805 TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM SUPPLEMENTAL SAMPLING WORK PLAN --- CHEMOURS FAYETTE`vILLE WORKS FACILITY Page 3 There are no published NCDENR or DSEPA Regional Screening Levels for C4, C5; or C7; therefore, analytical results Will be compared against previously detected river water sample results. If groundwater results are non -detect or less than the previously detected river water concentrations, then it Will be determined that the detected river Water concentrations could not have been the result of discharge of Site groundwater to the river. Upon receipt of the final laboratory analytical data, the project team Will prepare a technical memorandum describing the supplemental sampling activities. In the memorandum, the investigation data Will be arranged and presented to facilitate interpretation and understanding of the data as they pertain to the overall objectives of the investigation. Typical data displays that will be presented include a tabulation of field measurements and observations and figure(s) that summarize information as it relates to conditions present at the Site. The technical memorandum will also summarize the Conclusions derived from the supplemental sampling activities. ::IF'=::1:R':::: Parsons. April 2011.
