Pace Analytical Services, Inc. received an effluent sample (DuPont designation 040907,
collected 9/7/2004) from your facility on September 8, 2004 for the analysis of Total
Nitrogen. This order is substantiated by documentation on the Chain of Custody received
by the Burlington Service Center indicating Total Nitre .as a requested analysis.
Unfortunately. TKN was not entered into the Pace Lab ory Information Management
System (LIMS) !for analysis. The LIMS is used to gene to work orders and notify
analysts to perform the client requested analyses. As z result, TKN was not analyzed a$
part of the Total' Nitrogen analysis requested by your s. Iff on the received sample_
Adequate review of the project order both before and aer project completion was not
conducted by Pace Project Management, which would 'have caught this mistake and
allowed analysis t� be performed within hold time.

You may wish to include this letter with your DMR asp explanation for the missing
Total Nitrogen data.
I am very sorry for this laboratory error, particularly si hce the problem could have been
