Thank you for your letter concerning water service from the Cape Fear Public Utilities
Authority (CFPUA). Representatives from my Department have been in contact with
Chemours, the Cape Fear Public Utilities Authority, the U.S. EPA and elected officials
representing the district. Although North Carolina is awaiting guidance from the U.S.
EPA, I join you in your concern. The Department of Environmental Quality is working
diligently with all partners to ensure we evaluate the nature, extent and potential
impacts of GenX. \Newill also continue working with Chemourstoassess waste streams
containing GenX and the potential for reducing the amount of the chemical compound
being discharged tothe river while xveevaluate this matter.
Land members ofmysenior team stand ready tojoin New Hanover County, [FPUA,the
City of Wilmington, Chemours and local community leaders in a meeting next week in
Wilmington. VVeare committed toworking with all interested stakeholders to address
