Hi Sheila,
I apologize for not responding to your email sooner. Attached are presentations I
gave at the Brunswick forum and at a forum on 7/26 in Wilmington.
We have never detected PFECAs at Fayetteville's Hoffer water treatment plant
intake or in their finished water.
DEQ-CFW-00025257
In May, Mark Strynar (EPA) and my student Zack Hopkins took a sample by boat
in close upstream proximity to the Chemours discharge. Mark has these results,
but I can certainly get them. My understanding is that the concentrations of all
PFECA compounds in the upstream sample were dramatically lower, but the
PFECAs were detectable. Perhaps runoff from the Chemours site?
In talking with Chad Ham from Fayetteville, I learned there are three NPDES
discharges between the Hoffer intake and the Chemours discharge. To be able to
say that all PFECAs come from the Chemours discharge or site runoff, these
discharges (2 Fayetteville WWTPs, DAC/1\4onsanto) need to be sampled.
Best,

It was good to see you last night. Can you send me your presentation from the
forum? Also, can you remind me whether you found any of the other PFECA
compounds upstream of Chemours, or did you only find them downstream of the
facility during your work in 2013 -2014? Thank you for your help.
