What will be of greatest interest to the EMC
members? How familiar are the members with the
water quality challenges in the Cape Fear River?
I am thinking about introducing 3 concrete
examples - in the interest of moving towards action:
Low level organic that has (1) no drinking water
standard ("unregulated contaminant") but (2) a
stream water quality standard - example 1,4-
dioxane
Low level organic that has (1) a health goal/health
advisory level for drinking water but (2) is
otherwise unregulated - example GenX
A reactive constituent that is (1) non -toxic from an
ecotoxicological perspective but (2) forms organic
and inorganic disinfection byproducts that are
regulated in drinking water - example bromide
I will talk about sampling challenges as well as
analytical challenges as part of the discussion.
Thoughts?
