I am just now coming up for air. Questions I have about the sampling plan:
1. What are the reporting limits for the proposed bromide and 1,4-dioxane methods?
2. The proposal states: "Samples from stations in close proximity to power plants and/or public
water treatment plants with elevated UCNM3 results will also be analyzed for 1,4-dioxane." I
don't have evidence that 1,4-dioxane is associated with power plants. Also, UCMR3 results are
only available for communities serving >1 0,000 people. I hope the sampling plan for 1,4-dioxane
takes into consideration results DEQ and NCSU. If all sampling locations marked with "2" in the
table will be analyzed for 1,4-dioxane, the approach is OK.
3. Will bromide sampling at or near drinking water intakes be coordinated with collection date of
DBP compliance samples?
Will you be at the meeting tomorrow?

Would you mind looking over this sampling plan to see if it is sufficient to continue
tracking the Dioxane problem.

The plans and timelines expressed our February letter are still accurate. Our lab
received their new instrument and it is up and running for initial validation. We still
hope to be online for the Dioxane testing in mid -summer. I have attached a copy of the
recently updated sampling plan. Once the lab method is validated we will add
monitoring to permits identified as potential sources of 1, 4 dioxane. Please let me
know if you have any further questions.

I wanted to check and see when we could expect an update. I need the information to
pass along to others that are interested in this effort.
I have Kevin Eason (Reidsville) and Michael Rhoney (Asheboro) copied in this email.
I assume Mr. Eason and Mr. Rhoney were copied on the letter that: you sent out: dated
February 27, 2017 but I have attached it to make sure they have it.
Thanks for your continued attention to this important: drinking water issue.
