Activity: Conference Call x 1
New/Emerging Issues from 8:30 a.m. Call:
• DEQ and DHHS reached out yesterday afternoon (7/26) to Local Health Departments and Local Water Supplies
to share week 4 Test America results.
• DHHS also reached out to local elected officials in Bladen County to give an update.
• DEQ reached out to Brunswick County manager and attorney to respond to questions.
• Press release finalized, highlighting the remaining test results from week 3 and the Test America results for week
4.
• EPA week 4 results and week 5 results expected in the next few days.
• Test America week 5 results expected to arrive today or tomorrow. QA by DEQ staff expected to be completed
early next week.
• DEQ reducing number of sites sampled, focusing on monitoring finished water and outfall at the Chemours
plant. Monitoring will be daily, Monday through Friday.
Activities for the Dav & Week:
• DEQ to send embargoed release at 10 a.m. to Local Health Directors and Public Water Executives, along with
talking points. LHD and LWS invited to call DEQ/DHHS with any questions. New Hanover health director out of
town — copy to be sent to Deputy Director.
• DEQ to send press release to media at noon.
• DHHS and DEQ continue to work on an internal and external Q&A
• During GenX event in Wilmington last night (7/26), researcher from NC State University announced plans to seek
a $275,000 rapid grant from National Institutes of Health to examine how an unregulated chemical found in the

* DEQ heard from EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) regarding continued lab analysis. EPA was
asked if they are willing to continue lab analysis for a few more weeks while long-term strategy is determined by
DEQ. Originally, EPA asked to analyze samples for four weeks, then six, after samples showed not all discharge of
GenXwas eliminated.
0 DEQ to work with EPA to develop contract with a private lab for future testing.
