Subject: Re: CFPUA6enXLevels
Here is the definition of stream flow:
Stream flow or discharge is the volume of water that moves through a specific point in a stream. during a
given period oftime.
| provided to[FPUAthe mean discharge, orstream flow, for the days they measured concentrations of
GenX. If the stream flow is high, there is a greater volume of water for any pollutant to mix in, so the
concentration ofthe pollutant islower. |fthe stream flow islow, there isless volume ofwater for the
pollutant tomix in, sothe concentration ishigher. Let rneknow ifthis does not make sense.

lam attaching the analysisfor the concentrations compared to the mean river flow. There does seem to be an
inverse relationship, in that when the river flow decreases, the GenX concentration increases.
Following is a statement on some of the factors that may cause some of the variability in the data.
OEQ-CFVV_00053313
A number of factors can influence sampling concentrations, including differences in rainfall and river flows. But that
variability in such low concentrations is going to be greater and it's important to put such small concentrations into
perspective.
Let me know if you need anything else. I will call you if I hear back from EPA.
