My apologies. I fell asleep early last night - still recovering from Wednesday's late night. I think the message
in the draft response looks very good. I saw a couple of typos, but know your team will catch them before
finalizing.

Thanks for the update - I'll call you in the morning. I'm going to the governor's mansion at 3pm tomorrow for
another meeting. Assume the governor's team knows about the water authority offering water? That is
disappointing that all our communications with them didn't even buy us a heads up.

NCDHHS' health goal of 140 ppt was set for bottle-fed
infants as they are considered the most vulnerable group
and because they consume the most water for their body
gosl, parents of bottle-fed infants should read all available
information carefully, determine their risk comfort level,
and consider using an alternate water source when
preparing formula. No health effects are expected in any
other groups at the levels recently reported by CFPUA,
including pregnant women, nursing mothers, or children.
It is important to note that the hea_lth___,!Zoal is not a line between safil

would not be expected in the most vulnerable population over a
lifetime of exposure based on currently available science. Short -ter

We expect to see some fluctuation in test results for
measurements in the parts -per -trillion range, and
fluctuations can also be seen based on changes in rainfall
and river flow, It is encouraging that the most recent result
shared by CFPUA was lower than results for the previous
three days. NCDHHS and NCDEQ will continue monitoring
test results and provide updated health information as

Subject: From the Mayor's Office- Water Drop Off and Delivery Sites in Wilmington to be
announced next week
The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority and the City of Wilmington are working with area
ministers to designate churches as potential water delivery sites in the City of Wilmington. As a
free, temporary service to residential customers who would prefer to drink water from a
groundwater source, CFPUA will fill personal containers with water treated at its Richardson
nanofiltration plant in Ogden.
Details are currently being confirmed for release early next week. Interested citizens will be able
to drop off clean, empty containers at a participating church. Containers must have caps, be clean
and properly -labeled with full name and phone number. Containers should be limited to between
one and five gallons in size. Once churches have been designated, the containers will be
transported to and from a water refill site in Ogden, and citizens will then return to the church to
pick up their filled container.
DEQ-CFW-00053309
We will release information next week about locations and schedules. CFPUA and the City look
forward to working with area churches and our customers.

Subject: Press release
Below is the press release that we plan to send out after the city releases their statement...
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC — The NC Department of Health and Human Services
(DHHS) made a statement this week that, at the current GenX levels in the county's water
supply, the general population does not need to stop drinking municipal water. The state's
explanation of their public health position can be viewed here.
As a service to residents, Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) is offering water from a
groundwater source at Ogden Park. In addition, CFPUA is working with the City of Wilmington
and local churches to set up additional water distribution sites.
DEQ-CFW-0005331 0
While these distribution sites are available for residents, New Hanover County and health
officials want to remind the public that DHHS has confirmed that the public does not need to
stop drinking or using the water.
