Currently, at the request of Secretary van der Vaart, the IMACs are under review and assessment for potential
modifications. PFOA is among those being evaluated and going through internal and external review. Dave and Hanna
are our contacts at DVVM. Because PFOS and PFOA are often found "together" , we are considering a proposal for PFOS
as well. The proposals, after approval for release by DWR management, will make their way over to your office.
Could you tell me how many facilities /areas may encounter either of the chemicals? asyou are aware — the next step
after this one is obtaining approvals for rule -making and subsequently a fiscal note must be prepared that includes an
estimate of all affected parties. Any information that you could provide atthis time would be helpful in making final

from Sec. van der Vaart:) of reviewing the IMACs (first) for possible adoption into the 02L rules. The first: half -dozen are
Underway and have been forwarded to Michael Scott (with QVV&8) for staff review, i assume that to be Sandy, Dave and
Hanna—but,maybeotbeo,
We are hoping to have 15-20 ready for presentation to the EMC in late fall — this may change as we may encounter data
issues or other needs. S4 in dosing, check back with us for updates, and perhaps check in vvit:h the DWM staff to see
where they may be in the review process!
