The water treatment product is the Nalco ]QTRASAR93DT|l8 Cooling Water Scale Inhibitor and
Dispersant. Attached iathe Safety Data Sheet and the Product Bulletin for this dispersant.
The target dosage would bonomore than|00 mg/L of the dispersant in2.80MGD of the noncontact cooling
vvater. This water would be a component ofthe final Outfall 002 effluent whose long term average flow is
|4.556MGD,and therefore the average concentration ofthe dispersant inthe (]utfal}OO2effluent would be
approximately

Hi Mike- please send info on the proposed dispersant, and we'll review it with the renewal application. There isa
toxicity test that should capture any potential impacts toaquatic life, but m/eshould doaquick check from human health
Teresa Rodriguez is the assigned permit writer, but she is booked solid for remainder of 2016 on Duke Energy
permits. I've just completed my third new hire for 2016, but I wouldn't want to throw a rookie your way!

Who is assigned to our NPDES Permit No. NC0003573 renewal?
The site is considering adding a dispersant (Nalco 3D TRASAR9 3DT 118) to the once -through cooling water
to keep the river sediment from settling out in our process equipment. The dispersant would ultimately be
discharged through our NPDES permitted outfalls and to the Cape Fear River.
I need to know if I have to provide NC-DWR additional information with our permit renewal to reflect this
dispersant.
