The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) has initiated a review of its current Groundwater Quality
Standards and Interim Maximum Allowable Concentration s(IMACs) as required by 15A NCAC
02L.0202(f). The purpose of this letter is to request, in accordance with the mutually developed
SOP (attached), that DPH and DWM review the enclosed Groundwater Standards Triennial
Review Summary Tables and provide comment to DWQ on the proposed 2L standards revisions.
Table I is a summary of the recommended updates to the current 2L groundwater quality
standards in 15A NCAC 2L.0202(g). Table 2 is a summary of groundwater interim maximum
allowable concentrations that are proposed as permanent standards. The enclosed tables provide
information that includes the basis and criteria used to determine the proposed standards, as well
as, references and links to documents and information used to develop the proposals.
Please provide comments on these proposals before August 1, 2011 and send by email to
