Asyou are aware they have been discussing PFOA,per DENRDWQsrequest, for almost JY2years.Discussion continued onanumber ofPFOAresearch papers/posters byB\8board members. The studies included effects tomammary gland tissues (stimulation of growth and development and inhibition of growth and development at the same doses! Very interesting!), blood serum level studies, developmental studies, half-life studies and clarification of half-life previous assumptions. Many of the members were not convinced that these additional studies were relevant. However, a few SAB members and the chairperson (Dr. Thomas Starr) will schedule a few more teleconferences with the authors of threepapers/posters. The good news isthat the SAB,today, has agreed topost their draft risk assessment and conclusions mnthe web and accept public comments during o3Oday comment period! This draft recommendation could, eventually, be used to establish orevised /8&4[urgroundwater standard. {insert clapping noise herei>Noting that additional teleconferences are planned (see above), no estimated date of web publication of the risk assessment of PFOA was mentioned, and the 8ABagreed that the findings from these teleconferences would be shared with the full SA8 next month. The board made a few minor changes to the risk assessment , but the final calculations appear to remain as a range of numbers. (Und| w/esee the official draft — please donot cite orquote, FYI only the range is~1—~Juo/L) Goal for the next meeting is to discuss these follow-up conversations. We will keep you all posted auto the progress of this evaluation.
