Attached are notes from a meeting in June 24, 2015 and notes from July 22, 2010 which include meeting notes from
Aug. 26, 2010 on the phase out of PFOA. It includes a presentation by Chemours and a summary of the meeting by
Sandra Moore.
The Dupont permit renewal Application from 2011 is included and if you go to page 9 of 16 you will see a description of
the Nafion Manufacturing process. At the end it is stated that The FLPR Vinyl Ether and HFPO monomers are shipped to
other Dupont locations to produce various fluorochemical products such as DuPont Teflon. Wastewater generated from
this manufacturing facility is neutralized and discharged to the WWTP.
My understanding is that what is being measured in the stream and being referred to as GenX is the HFPO monomer.
The actual Genx is being produced in the PPA manufacturing area which is described below the Nafion Manufacturing
area and it states no process wastewater from the PPA manufacturing facility is discharged to the site's biological WWTP
or to the Cape Fear River. However, note that HFPO dimer acid fluoride is the main feedstock for GenX.
Lastly, the 2016 renewal Application is attached and see page 33 of 38 and you will see similar descriptions.
I will look at earlier applications later but I have a meeting to go to.
