We recommend changing the monitoring location No.1 from the project reservoir(upstream of dam)to the secondary bypass reach instead(as shown in the picture below). We believe that collecting DO/Temp data from this location will be more beneficial and help us to determine impacts from the powerhouse operation since the reach has direct connection and is joined by the tailrace water. ..n III S d Eastern Riverbank 11 Y Powerhouse xll cY jll mA Intake Canal xx Haw River a 9 3 a P 11 Qh Haw River l u 11 so:: 11 Z Haw River A Proposed Monitoring Locations A 1 Bypass Reach 1 11 A O 2 Bypass Reach 1 11 Y N 11 / Q3 Powerhouse Tailrace 11 Y 2. Please modify the Sampling Procedure to specify that the field sampling for all 3 locations will be conducted on the same day and during the time when the powerhouse is in operation. 3. Please modify the frequency of monitoring from monthly to weekly. However, the weekly sampling is only required when the powerhouse is in operation during that one-week period. 1-1 A jL Q5 North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality I Division of Water Resources 512 North Salisbury Street 11617 Mail Service Center I Raleigh,North Carolina 27699-1617 919.707.9000
